There are several ways to donate.
One-time donations.
If you would like to donate by check or money order, make it payable to “Harvard University” with “BSA: Children of the Border” in the memo line, and mail it to:

For donations from outside the United States, it is best to wire the money directly to our account in the Dominican Republic. We keep the money in an interest-bearing savings account with a local worker’s cooperative bank that has served us for many years. Direct transfers to this account give a good exchange rate, save on transaction fees, and make the money available immediately for our field operations. Please email us if you wish to make a direct donation in this way, and we will be happy to provide you with the necessary routing codes.
Recurring donations.
If you wish to be a sustained supporter of our work, it is easy to set up monthly donations linked to your credit card or bank account. We have several suggested amounts, but it is possible to donate any amount you like. If you wish to stop your monthly donation at any time, you may send us an email, and we will cancel it immediately.
Material donations.
Material donations are harder to accept. Every year airlines allow less and less weight as checked luggage. Shipping to the Dominican Republic is very expensive, such that most times the shipping costs exceed the value of the goods if purchased locally. Local goods are almost always less expensive in the DR than in the US and Europe, and allow us to purchase necessary medicines, school supplies, and services in the most economical way. For those who wish to make material donation, we are looking for a way to store bulk donations that could later be shipped inexpensively by sea and tractor trailer.
If you wish, you may include a note on how you would like your donation to be used. If you designate “For healthcare,” “For the school,” or “For human rights,” your money will be earmarked for that project. We prefer unrestricted donations, which can be immediately allocated for the most pressing needs, but appreciate all contributions. Children of the Border has no non-essential expenses! We also make a special effort to follow up with our financial supporters, detailing exactly how their money was spent. Often, we provide photos so that you can personally see the positive impact your dollars make on the border communities. Even a small sum can go a long way to improving someone’s life in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
No matter the method you use to make your donation, you will receive a a receipt, either electronically or through the mail.
